Louw Roets' design is informed by a combination of traditional methods & modern technology with an experimental approach to the selection of techniques & materials. His foundation being industrial design, Louw embraces the principles of Bauhaus modernism in furniture design, creating clean, pure lines based on an understanding of classical furniture craftsmanship coupled with careful research into materials, proportions and the requirements of the human body.
Louw aims to create pieces that are true to the process and technique that created them, and which communicates an exploration of the boundary between design & functional art. The studio & workshop is based in Cape Town, South Africa & is open for commissions & new projects.
"To evoke & be part of a society where we design with passion & the human touch is valued, where we forget about what is trending & rather make our work personal is the fundamental ideology behind my work."
